Portland Wedding Photographer | Kristin & Jena
Kristin and Jena traveled from Texas to elope in the Pacific Northwest, and I think it's safe to say they got a true Pacific Northwest wedding experience! Kristin first reached out to me looking for a Portland wedding photographer after talking with the wonderful Theresa with Heart Rock Ceremonies. They wanted to elope at Bridal Veil Falls in the Columbia River Gorge in the fall. Kristin and Jena specifically mentioned that they wanted a casual, simple ceremony to match their style. It felt like a perfect plan. Just a couple of weeks before their wedding, the Eagle Creek fire broke out in the Gorge and there was no chance to have a wedding in that location. Theresa and I chatted about alternative places for a true PNW experience and suggested Hug Point near Cannon Beach as plan B since they would still get a waterfall and great views. These brides were on board with the change of plans and after looking at photos of Hug Point, they agreed to have the wedding there in the evening.I had photographed an elopement the evening before Kristin and Jena's own elopement in Cannon Beach (See Olivia and Jason HERE, who were married by Theresa's sister, coincidentally ) and it was some of the heaviest rains I'd ever seen at the Oregon Coast. When I checked the forecast and we checked in with people we knew at the coast, they confirmed that it was pouring buckets again and wasn't supposed to let up. Once again Theresa and I chatted with Kristin and Jena to figure out how to proceed. We could go to the coast in the pouring rain and get wet but still get beautiful photos. Or we could find a place in Portland where it was raining much less. Kristin and Jena opted for plan C and their evening wedding at a waterfall or at the coast became a morning wedding at Cathedral Park in Portland. I can't say enough wonderful things about this couple and their easy-going attitude about the entire Pacific Northwest wedding experience. They loved the location and I think it was meant to turn out the way it did all along. Theresa's grandson served as the most adorable ring bearer and witness in his rain boots and dinosaur rain jacket, completing the perfect Portland experience. It was a beautiful day and had just the right amount of rain.Thank you, Kristin and Jena, for trusting me to capture your wedding day, and for trusting us throughout the whole process! I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness together. Heidi Heaphy Photography is currently booking 2018 and 2019 weddings, elopements, and portrait sessions at the Oregon Coast, the greater Portland area, and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest. I would love to chat with you about your photography needs too!
