Cannon Beach Elopement | Olivia & Jason

I absolutely love it when couples travel from other parts of the country to elope to the Oregon coast. I try to never take living near this gorgeous place for granted and can see why couples would want to get married here. When Olivia first contacted me about their Cannon Beach elopement, she said that she and her fiancé Jason would be coming from Louisiana for their wedding because they loved the ocean. She worried that the Oregon coast might be too cold in September, and I told her to be prepared for anything at the coast, especially when you are used to temps in the south. I could have never predicted what we encountered on their wedding day though! When I arrived in the early evening for their intimate ceremony with the two of them, their daughter, and just a few other family members, it was pouring rain. I mean POURING buckets of sideways rain in massive amounts of wind. We chatted on the phone about what to do and decided to meet at their hotel room and do the ceremony on the patio and go to the beach for photos if the rain let up at all. Umbrellas are a staple in my gear, so I knew we could do a few photos in the rain and wind, if only for a couple of minutes. I arrived at the hotel as did their wonderful officiant, Rev. Patricia Durkin and we all gathered outside under an awning to discuss the plan. It was one of the most incredible things I've witnessed as the rain stopped, the wind calmed down completely, the sun started to poke through, and blue skies could be seen on the horizon mixed in with the fog. Basically, if you could order up a perfect Oregon coast evening, this would be it.Olivia and Jason were married in Cannon Beach with the iconic Haystack Rock in the background. Their daughter and nephew frolicked in and out of the ceremony in between chasing seagulls and flying kites with fellow beach-goers. Close family members looked on as they said their vows to one another, and it was truly a wonderful evening. Their gorgeous flowers from Cannon Beach Florist added the perfect touch to their simple and elegant weddingIt was so great getting to spend an eventful and beautiful evening with Jason and Olivia.
