Cannon Beach Wedding {Jessica & Scott}

Jessica and Scott’s Cannon Beach wedding was so incredibly special in so many ways and I was honored to capture this heartfelt day for them. When I was originally talking with them, the plan was a summer sunset ceremony in Cannon Beach. However, the day before their wedding, Jessica messaged and asked if we could switch up the time. They wanted to meet earlier in the afternoon to access the area around Chapman Beach which is only accessible when the tide is very low. It would mean potential harsh sunlight, but that didn’t matter. This spot was particularly meaningful to Jessica and two very important people who she had lost in her life, her dad and her grandpa.

I met Jessica and Scott separately at their rented beach house where they were finishing getting ready. They had decided not to see each other before the ceremony, so Scott walked down to the beach location with the guests to wait for Jessica. Their children were absolutely adorable and loved being a part of the ceremony. One thing I will never forget is that there were 2 seagulls perched on top of the rocks above their wedding. The seagulls stayed the entire ceremony and I just felt that capturing them would be important. After the ceremony, Jessica’s grandma asked if I had noticed the birds. Jessica and her grandma hugged and looked up at the birds right before they flew away. I don’t think there were any dry eyes thinking of her dad and grandpa in those seagulls.

After the ceremony, we took photos of all the guests, then the bride, groom, and I stayed at the beach for more photos. I loved that they wanted to get in the water and they were up for anything, including photos in a cave. It was another incredibly special moment when Jessica danced in the water with thoughts of her dad and grandpa before Scott scooped her up and carried her to the sand.

This day was heartfelt, bittersweet, and oh so very beautiful. It was an honor to be there to witness it with Jessica and Scott and their loved ones.
