Portland Wedding Photographer | Liz and Donnie Engagement

Liz and Donnie are just the sweetest couple and I loved getting to meet them for the first time last month for their engagement session. Liz and I had been talking for a few months about their upcoming spring wedding and after the date and perfect location had been chosen, figuring out a time and place for engagement photos became tricky. I love getting to meet and spend a little bit of time with couples before their actual wedding day. It's always my preference to do an engagement session if possible. However, as a Portland wedding photographer, timing and distance don't always work out for an engagement session before a Montana wedding. Since it was important for Liz and Donnie as well, we went back and forth on possible places to meet and times we could make it work. None of us live in Montana anymore and travel was going to be inevitable one way or another. I mentioned that I was going to be making a trip to Spokane at the beginning of October for a personal and work trip and asked if that was a possibility. They said yes and we met at the beautiful orchards of Green Bluff! I cannot thank them enough for traveling over 7 hours each way to make this happen and I'm happy they were able to make a little family reunion out of the trip too.Liz and Donnie love fall as much as I do, so the apple and peach orchards provided the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos. We lucked out with the weather as big clouds loomed overhead. Even though it was windy, the rain held off until about 5 minutes after we were finished. This couple was just so fun and loving. They were great at making each other smile and laughed with each other throughout most of the session. Liz's dad was a fabulous assistant for me and threw beautiful fall leaves in the air while I took photos (and he carried my equipment!). As we were walking to a different spot, I turned around to see Liz and Donnie dancing together through the orchard.
