Cannon Beach Family Session {Huang Family}
This sweet family was spending a long weekend at the Oregon Coast this past summer and decided to book me for a Cannon Beach family session during their stay. I love getting to meet families from all over when they travel to the coast for a getaway. The Huang family was so sweet with their adorable son, daughter, and sweet pup. They were staying at the Hallmark Resort in Cannon Beach so I met them on the beach right out the back of the hotel. It’s so great when you can just walk down the stairs where you are staying and have incredible coast views for your family photos.
We met for their session on the last morning of their stay. Morning sessions are often easier for families with young children. As is always the case with Oregon Coast sessions, the weather can be unpredictable no matter the time of year. It was a rather windy and chilly morning, but you wouldn’t have known it. The family played in the sand and water, ran around chasing their dog, and kept warm by snuggling and also by staying in motion. This is always my favorite type of session with families and children, the ones where the children can play and be themselves. It started to rain towards the end of the session, ending just in time. They could then walk right back to their hotel to warm up and get changed.
One question that I get asked a lot (understandably) when scheduling a session at the Oregon Coast is what happens if the weather is bad. There are several options I offer to clients depending on their needs. We can always reschedule if your schedule allows you to return another day. If you are traveling from out of town and are only in the area for a certain amount of time, I offer flexibility with time of day when we have a good idea about the hourly forecast. I am often communicating with clients the evening before a session when the weather is questionable the next day to make sure we schedule during a time with the highest odds of decent weather. Another thing I do is bring clear bubble umbrellas in case the rain does appear. I do love rainy photos with umbrellas and love it when clients embrace the Oregon Coast weather too. The umbrellas travel with me everywhere because you never know. The ever-changing weather and conditions at the Oregon Coast are part of the experience of this beautiful location.
