Portand Photographer | Mother and Daughters

It's an all too common issue. Moms often find themselves behind the camera, taking photos of their kids in the important moments of their lives and the everyday moments too. However, they rarely hand the camera off to somebody to get in the photos themselves. When mom is a professional photographer, this problem of not getting in front of the camera seems to be even worse. So my talented photographer friend Ann of Ann Marshall Photography suggested that we meet on a recent sunny evening to remedy that situation. On the first day of 2016, we met up with each other to swap sessions with our kids. Ann and her daughters looked absolutely gorgeous and they were troopers in the cold and the wind. It was so cold out, even for my boys and me that had just returned from a winter trip to Montana. But sometimes pretty winter light just can't be passed up!How beautiful are these ladies?! I love how the girls just snuggled up to their mom to keep warm and safe from the wind. We didn't last long out in the elements, but I hope that these girls will cherish these photos with their mom forever. I know I will cherish the wonderful photos that Ann took of my boys and me.When was the last time you got in the photo with your kids? While I do a decent job of it, one of my goals for 2016 is to hand off the camera more often so that I can get IN the photos with my family. Even though I don't always want to be in pictures, it's so important.
